Hello All,

With only 5 weeks left in the semester we are starting our final projects:

Foods 9: Cooking Shows have begun. Students will have the remainder of the semester to complete these

Foods 8: We are working through our Lunch unit and then students will design their Breakfast for 2 assignment as their final project

CTF 8,9: Students are finishing up their projects. All work is due before the winter break

Astro: Students are working on their design a space suit assignment and will then complete independent research projects.

Power Up: Students have been given their Learning Through Teaching assignment. This is due before then end of the semester.

Hello!
Here is an update of what we have been doing in class lately!

CTF 7/8/9: Session 1 ended last week. Any students (particularly grade 8) who did not get their work into me will need to do so ASAP.

Foods 8: Students will be working on their Design Your Own Dough baking this week!

Foods 9: Day 1,3,5 students will be finishing up their baking booklets and handing them in, while the Day 2,4,6 students will continue on with their field to fork projects.

Fashion 7/8: Most students are working on their something stuffed!

Astro: The construction of the giant solar system has begun. Students will be working on their section this week.

Friday, October 24

Next week is student led conferences, please be sure to have your parents sign up to come and speak with your core teachers. I will have drop in times available the Thursday evening and Friday morning.

CTF 7/8/9: We are almost done our first round of CTF. Students are required to finish up their projects by next Thursday, Oct. 30. Anything required to be handed in (projects/paperwork) must be done by next week.

Foods 9: We are finishing up our baking unit and starting the Field to Fork Project.  This project will be due in mid-November. Specific date TBA

Foods 8: We are currently working on finishing Bagels and starting to Design our Own Dough

Astronomy 7: The solar system building continues!

Fashion: Most students have finished their hand sewn cases. If you have not, you need to finish it by next week please!  Next up: stuffed projects using the sewing machine!

Hello All,
Here is an update of what we have been doing in Foods, Fashion, CTF, Astronomy and Power Up:

CTF 7 Foods: We have wrapped up our Breakfast Unit with our final project, Build Your Own Breakfast. Today we will be working at the baking unit with Cheese Biscuits. This week we will look more indepth at measuring.

CTF 8: Students continue to work on their Back to the Future Projects. These will be due next week as our final day of Session 1 is Oct. 30. Students should have their dish completed, powerpoint completed and self-marking done by next Thursday.

CTF 9: Students are continuing to work on their Citizenship projects. These must be completed by next Wednesday, including the write up.

Foods 8: Students are starting to wrap up the dough unit and will soon start their final project - Design Your Dough

Foods 9: The Day 2,4,6 class has completed the Baking Unit and spent today wrapping up their booklets and marking themselves. They will start the next project on Wednesday. Baking booklets and self-marked rubrics are due Wednesday, Oct. 22.   The Day 1,3,5 class has missed multiple classes due to scheduling so we will be making Bread this week and Strudel next week. Baking booklets will be due after that.

Fashion 7: Students are starting to finish up their hand sewing projects - their felt cases and are beginning to make patterns for patchwork pillows. We will be learning to use the sewing machines soon.

Fashion 8: Students are wrapping up their hand sewing felt cases and starting their first sewing machine project - something stuffed.

Astronomy: Our work on a giant solar system continues!

Power Up: We have just finished our meditation/relaxation series of exercises and students have done a reflection sheet for this. The reflection sheet is due on Wednesday, Oct. 22 if it wasn't handed in today.

October 7, 2014

Hello All,
Here is an update of what we have been doing in class!

Foods 7: Students have been planning their own breakfasts as a final project for our Breakfast unit. Students should be prepared to cook tomorrow and spend Thursday/Friday finishing up their posters.

Foods 8: Students are continuing the dough unit. This week we will be making lemon tarts.

Foods 9:  We are about half-way through our baking unit. The next two recipes will be bread and apple strudel. After this, the baking unit booklet will be due to hand in.  Up next... Field to Fork Project

Fashion 7/8: Students are continuing to work on their hand sewn cases and so far they look great! Next up... sewing machine sewing. Students need to make something stuffed!

CTF 8: Students continue to work on their Back to the Future Projects. The powerpoint part of this project should be completed after today or it is homework

CTF 9: Students are wrapping up their responsible cooking projects and starting their independent Citizenship Projects. Proposals should be in to Ms. Scott by next week!

Astronomy: We have started building our own solar systems! We are currently gathering information!

September 22-26

CTF 7
This week we continued working on our Breakfast unit by making cinnamon buns. We also created goals for ourselves on IRIS. Next week the breakfast unit will continue with pancakes with fruit coulis and omelettes.

CTF 8
This week we started working on our Back to the Future Projects. It is recommended that you work on this a bit at home. We will continue working on this next week

CTF 9
We finished the documentary Food Inc. We will be starting our responsible cooking project next week.

Foods 8
We finished up our look at alternative diets by baking brownies with alternative ingredients. We will be starting our Dough unit next week by looking at how Yeast and Gluten work and then making Pretzels!

Foods 9
Our experimental baking unit continues with No-Bake items. Next up, yeast and bread!

Fashion 7 and 8
We continued to work on our felt cases using our hand sewing skills. We will continue this work next week.
